    To Dian’s Family:

Your mother and grandmother was a joy to know ! I first met her while working at West Lynde P.S. thirty-eight years ago. She was an amazing Grade One teacher !
After she retired, we kept in touch and I was fortunate to be invited to watch Oshawa Generals games with her. When I retired, we decided to meet for breakfast at Dine’s on the first day of school each year. We also began monthly breakfast get-togethers from then on. Although we didn’t see each other during Covid, we carried on phone conversations and I was able to visit with her in person a month ago.
Dian always spoke about her family with such affection and I often complimented her on having raised such fine sons and how lucky she was to have wonderful grand-children and in turn to have played such an important role in their lives. I know that her daughters-in-law were a source of pride as well as her brother and his family.
I will miss her, but her kind and ever-positive outlook inspires me and will stay with me forever. 🙏🏼

Dian was a very special person who was strong and positive throughout her life. I met Dian about 40 years ago and we taught together at West Lynde Public School. After we retired, a group of us met on a monthly basis for lunches or dinners.

I will always remember the great trip that we took together, travelling in B.C. and Alberta in 2018. Our planning paid off and everything ran smoothly! She was a wonderful travel companion - so easy going and pleasant! Dian travelled extensively and shared many of her travel albums with me. It was always fun hearing about her adventures!

The pandemic and her cancer treatments made it difficult to visit; however, we kept in touch by phone and through e-mails. Her family was always there for her and she often spoke of her loving, supportive family.

I will be out of the country and unable to attend the visitation or funeral. My condolences go out to Dian’s family and close friends.

    With sympathy,
    Louise Bettencourt
