    Janet & Family,
Our deepest condolences to you and the entire family. When I reminisce about our childhood growing up, it always includes your mother. Always a constant reminder of what a great and amazing mother should be. Caretaker, overseeing our behaviour, our conduct. Always trying to feed us!!..ALWAYS!!...Loving and caring, and I'll always have a smile on my face when I fondly think of the silent "J" when she called your name!! She will be missed but fondly and often remembered. xo

Much love to you and your family. Many fond memories of your mum and the meals we had after school and making your mum say different words in her charming accent . Such a wonderful sense of humor and loved to giggle with us around the kitchen table.
Such a beautiful and kind mum
    Love Karen

I have fond memories of spending a lot of time at your house when I was a kid. Your Mom and I would always giggle over the silliest things. She was always very kind and nurturing towards me. Love Heather and Wes.

Janet, Joyce and Jan and family. I wanted to extend my condolences to you all. The cycle of life that eventually ends in death. Your Mom lived a long and good life. I loved all the stories of your dear Mum. I know that there is immense grief and your hearts are filled with sadness. Your Mom is now at rest and together you will remain united as you bid farewell to her. I always admired the unity and the love and devotion you all shared as a family. Let this be your comfort. You did it all.

Our hearts go out to you your whole family.
As has been noted here by many, Mrs. Smit, was a kind, kind soul. The world is truly a better place for having had her in it...and we are all truly better for having known her.

My most memorable moment with your mom was showing up at your parent's apartment just a few years ago. She looked me up and down and said I was the same Margaret she remembered, it was okay for me to come in. I enjoyed our talks and listening to her stories of coming from Holland and your parents early life in Canada.
Thinking of you and your family as you say good bye.
    Love to all.

    Janet, Joyce, and Uncle John,
So sorry to hear of Aunt Hermine's passing. My deepest condolences to all of you; and of course, the grandchildren, too! She was a great and loyal friend to my Mom and Dad. And we always enjoyed seeing/meeting her at Birthday celebrations and other Smit Family gatherings. She will be sorely missed, by all that was privileged to know her!
    Sincerest sympathies, Richard & Martin

    Dear Janet, Joyce and family,
So sorry to hear of my aunt Hermien passing. My heart goes out to you all.
I don't know much about my aunt 'Hermien from Canada', so far away to me. I saw her twice in my life. When she and 'ome Jan' were in the Netherlands. The first time I was 5 years old. The only thing I remember about this is the photo of me with Janet and Joyce in Madurodam.
The second time I was 12 years old. I know more about that. Aunt Hermien and uncle Jan stayed at our house for a week. I remember Aunt Hermien as very loving, cheerful and funny.
    Love Jaap
