    Dear Tommy,

Please accept our families condolences on the passing of your mom... My great Aunt Voula. I remember her as always being loving and warm, just as I remember your Father Harold in the same way.

We regret not being able to come as we are away at this time.

Aunt Voula was a life long friend from day one of my life on this planet. Some of the adventures I shared with her and Uncle Harold included going to see Billy Graham when I was a very young boy. It was quite an emotional experience indeed. My mom, Koula Lakas cherished her as the sister she never had, and they spent many days of their lives together as good sisters would. For those who knew their home, one was always welcome to share a good cup of coffee and to sit in their kitchen and enjoy the lovely view of the woods behind their home in Darlington. Aunt Voula was forever an optimist and always made you feel at home. She too was one of the first Greek women who came to Canada at the turn of the last century and loved to live here. She will always be remembered for her unequivocal kindness for family and friends. She was a devote Christian and surely will find a home in God's Kingdom with her deceased husband Harold. God Blessed her soul a long time as a true believer.

Dear Tom and Patricia...I am in Winnipeg and just heard the news about your mom yesterday.
Sending my sincere sympathies to you both. Your mom was a wonderful friend to me and I was glad to have had a visit with her in August when Janet took me to see her.
Our friendship goes back to the early fifties when we first came to Oshawa. Both your dad and mom were special friends to Bill and I.
I will certainly miss her. Love and prayers, Verna
