My thoughts and prayers are with the Riordan family. This has been an exceptionally difficult time for you. Danny was such a kind, gentle man with a great sense of humour. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of ever meeting him. Our 209 group is getting small with the loss of our best cheerleader. Rest in peace Danny.

Dan was a gift to many. He was a giver and those of us blessed to know him, benefited from that generous, caring spirit. He was so proud of his Oshawa roots and his Irish ancestry. He loved nothing more than reminiscing about and celebrating these. Dan willingly shared his time with others and brought great joy to many seniors in the parish over the years. A visit from Dan was full of laughter and genuine interest in two way conversations. Many remember his invaluable help to newcomers to the Ontario Country Catholic School Board back in the 1960's. Many teachers were hired from the UK and other parts of Ontario. Dan made that transition easier for many of them, helping them learn about Oshawa and area and lead them in the right direction depending on their needs. Stories of his kindness, thoughtfulness, great sense of fun and comradarie, volunteerism at LHO, caring nature and so much more highlight the huge loss his passing is for his family, friends and those whose lives he enriched. Rest in peace, Dan. You'll be missed.

As one of the first administrative full-time employees of the Oshawa Separate School Board and it's County/Regional successors Danny holds a special place in my memory. Dan was born within a quarter mile of St Gregory's Parish and never left. He was truly a son of St Gregory's Parish. Rest easy my friend. Ivan Wallace Oshawa

My heartfelt condolences to the Riordan family. I had the honour of meeting Dan while volunteering at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and was trained there by him. Dan was such a kind, caring and funny person. I enjoyed every chance I had to work alongside him. His compassion was evident in his service to the many patients that came in to the Hospital. Whenever Dan was away, patients would always ask “Where is Dan?” The positive impact Dan had on his community will not be forgotten and he will be deeply missed. Rest in peace my friend.

My sincere condolences to the Riordan family. Dan was a very good friend to my mother Dorcas Cane during the latter years of her life. He was the life of the party - he loved to dance and enjoy every moment. i know they enjoyed their time with the Lakeridge Auxiliary and I ran into Dan in his volunteers roles at the hospital long after my mother's death. Dan was incredibly thoughtful and kind and we will always be grateful for his support and friendship. He even adopted my mother's dog Mikey after she died and gave him an amazing life Blessings and Peace Trinela

I am so sorry to miss Dan's funeral Mass. I have known Dan for so many years as a volunteer and friend at Lakeridge. He was always a gentleman. I last spoke with Dan at Rita's visitation and he kept asking me how I was. So thoughtful and caring. We have lost a good person. RIP, Danny boy Marian

Our sincere condolences to the Riordan family. My brother Wayne and I were notified quickly about Danny's passing. I have found it so difficult to come up with words befitting of such a wonderful human being. He and our mother Alice were the best of friends for many years and Danny was family to us and he was dearly loved. Danny did so much for so many. We were truly blessed to have Danny in our world. What a peaceful passing for such a lovely man. You and yours are in our thoughts and prayers. I am quite certain that your many wonderful memories will bring you all great comfort. Rest easy you kind and gentle soul. Wayne & Anne
