Larry was a great teacher and en even better person. It was a pleasure being his colleague for the last few years at O'Neill. We still kept in touch through our monthly breakfasts that Larry loved so much. He will be missed every time we think of who is now sitting in his favourite spot in the restaurant. Rest in peace, Larry. You have earned it.

Linda and family: I was very sorry to hear of Larry's death. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Larry and I started our teaching careers the same year at Sunset Heights, where he was appreciated as a great member of our staff. I'm sure he enjoyed teaching at several different schools in Oshawa throughout the years, and his expertise was a value to every staff he worked with. My thoughts are with you.

We are so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. We first met Larry as neighbours on Copperfield back in the late 80s. He often stopped to chat as he was walking the dog, or we would see him sitting on his front porch. I remember the castor beans he planted, and how they grew! Later in our retirement years, I often saw him with the O'Neill breakfast group as they meet on the same day as those of us from Kedron. He always made a point to come over to say hello before he left and we shared our family news. Larry had a very friendly personality and was so proud of his family. He is going to be missed by many.

Larry was that special older cousin that everyone would love to have and I was lucky enough to have in my life. Larry always had the time to visit and take me on road trips to Apsley and other “exotic” locations that were unavailable to a young teenager in the 1960’s without a license or car. I always appreciated his generosity, kindness and patience and vividly remember feeling like the coolest kid ever when cruising with Larry in his 1959 Ford convertible. We didn’t spend much time together over the last few decades but Larry has and always will be held in my memories and my heart. My condolences to Linda, Jennifer, Jonathan and your families at this difficult time.

We were very sorry to learn of Larry’s passing. Our thoughts are with you. It is a blessing however to know he is at rest. Our neighbourhood will not be the same without him sharing greetings from the front porch. Please know Linda, we are here for you. Whatever we can do to help, please let us know. The Beatty Family

Jonathan and Family I am so sorry for your loss. Larry was so full of life. I never did work directly with him at O'Neill, but I certainly knew his warm personality and quick wit. Jonathan, he was very proud of you and your accomplishments and was never shy to pass on information regarding the latter to his friends and acquaintances.

I am so sorry to hear of Larry Piurkos passing. I was a student in his first class at Sunset Heights school grade 6 and continued through Grades 7 and 8. Years later we met again when I gave a presentation to the teachers at O’Neill. He was an inspiration as a teacher a a wonderful person. He will be missed.
